Get a Decklink HD Extreme. It has SDI and component I/O. Both use BNC connections.

No 3-way color corrector and no batch capturing. Serious omission in my opinion. Might as well use iMovie and save your money.

You want fast AF ? Throw away the crappy 18-55mm lens and get a fast lens like the Sigma 18-50mm with a constant aperture of F2.8. All AF cameras love big apertures.

Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II has true multispot metering. ESP is a form of evaluative metering and is not same with multi-spot metering.

In the past, Olympus flagship camera OM-4 has the most advance multi-spot metering built into the camera with both hilight and shadow control. Why can't they build those functions into their DSLRs ?

If you are recording on the move, how sure are you that the Firestore is capturing as well ? It is not as if it has a video-out for monitoring. As for DVRack, you can see the clip on your notebook's video overlay while you are capturing it. Not bashing the Firestore, if you feel it's worth the...

Please save your money and wait for the new Premiere Pro CS3. It has OnLocation, which is a hard disk live-recording app, formerly know as DVRack from Serious Magic. The cost of the firestore is enuf for you to buy a decent notebook.

Definiely go for PAL camera. In the US, some companies shoot using 25fps in HD becos it is easier to convert to film rate of 24fps for theatrical release. Video is slightly speeded up without too much notice and audio pitch is increase about 4% to maintain lip-sync.

You can install MacDrive 6 on your PC and it will read your mac=formatted external hard disk. ;) Get Macdrive 6 Crossstripe if your external drives are raided in Mac.
