    Question on Microdrives

I have a 3+years old 1GB microdrive. Dropped it several times, travelled round the world ( with my parents ), still working well. Not too sure with regards reliablity, some people have problems with their CF cards, some have horror stories of their microdrive. Luckily I have no problems with...

    Macro lens

Yes, difficult to get good close up photos with the wide angle. But is kind of fun, challenging and reward to try, since memory space are a plenty and photoshop is available ;) The SF lens looks great for taking portrait. You have shown a marco lens can be used for non...

5600 HS(D) flash from Mass order

    1. Timber Wolf 2. Dynaxattack 3. Lumen 4. MadAnt Although it is highly unlikely since THAT price was given due to an error by the supplier. Doubt he will make the same error twice..

Yesterday popped out D5D for a spin

Mmm... Actually if you have photoshop, you would be able to create black and white from colour images with the effect of whatever colour filter you want. Check out the channel mixer tool in photoshop. Much more flexible than using an actual filter too =)

Friend's wedding with KM gear (impressions)

Wow, you actually used the 80-200! :bsmilie: Flare problems? Maybe because my lens is dirty? =P There shouldn't be a need to use manual focus, with your focus assist beam from the flash, it should be able to focus pretty well. Maybe you should aim to focus at high contrast area ( i.e Not...

    Macro lens

 post by Sulhan There are reasons why 105mm marco lens are more popular among marco shooters compared to the 50mm and the 200mm. The longer the lens, the less depth of field you get. Eg. More depth of field with a 50mm then 200mm at F2.8. The longer the lens, the less background you...

    Macro lens

I took it that he meant to stack a 50mm lens reversed, something like what Megaweb did. http://megaweb.clubsnap.org/articles/a70_reversed_35mmf2/ But while searching, found quite a useful site ( I think by espn ) for those who crave to go close...

    Macro lens

I haven't tried the reverse 50mm lens, but I have a +4 closeup filter. It works. In fact, I had it even before I bought my marco lens to do close up. It can add an interesting perspective when used in conjuction with a wide angle lens. Unfortunately, most of my samples with the closeup...

    Macro lens

Hi, I have the sigma 105 marco ex. The build of the lens is of good quality to me Some people might find the ex coating over the lens wearing off after much use, mine hasn't after nearly 4 years. ( Ok, so I had 2 years of hibernation ) Min focus distance ~30cm Length of lens at 1:1 ~15cm...

    film scanning,size,quality..

Hello, I suggest reading up this link Of course it is normal. There is no 35mm film that shows no grain when enlarged to that size you are looking at on your screen right? :bsmilie: You are using Jpeg compression? Since you are using photoshop, they do have a preview option right? Play...

    spots in the view finder

Comfirm the spots can be seen in both thru' the viewfinder AND on the photos? If so, have a look at the lens. Detach the lens, open up the aperture ( find somewhere bright ) and peer thru' and around it. Dirty front/back element, clean it carefully. If the inside elements are...

    price of AF 50mm lens?

You can use it anyway you can imagine ;) Lengthy info : 50mm used to be a popular walk-around lens ( I heard or read somewhere it had a perspective close to the human eye, helps also that it is cheap for a lens with such a large aperture ). Now, with the crop factors of DSLR, the 50mm...

    You think KM interested?

Looks good! Especially with many pictures and diagrams ( which many boring basic photography books lacks... ) along with the explainations. And even how to hold the camera properly! Would definitely be a good course material for Minolta camera users with the "Where can I find...

Anyone tried this lens - Tokina AF 20-35 f3.5-4.5

I have this lens. The one with an orange ring right? I am using it for the 7D. Construction is quite solid. ( Metal not some plasticky stuff ) Unfortunately for performance wise, I can't comment. Cause my lens got attacked by fungus, and now there are markings in the inner elements :(...

Reommendation for 7D General Purpose lens

For parties and gatherings, I usually just bring something wide, 20-35mm. Would prefer something wider ( sigma 12-24.. drool.. ) but I do not have the $$ and the distortion might not be too flattering on people on the edges of the photos. Usually I don't need any lens longer than 50mm unless...
