I have the same kit lens too! Some how the 18 - 55mm lack sharpness occasionally and images tend to be a little soft. However, I notice that sharpness comes in at around 36mm focal length with f/5.6. I dunno why I can't get any sharpness at 18mm:dunno:

Test both and see which one you like better. I personally prefer the 550D as it is faster and more choice of glasses for more shooting options.

Go get the Canon 40D dual lens kit at SGD1,800 and the battery grip at SGD99 (purchase-with-purchase) is really a good deal! I am considering that for that budget.

Same here... 3 minor problems for me for this little gem. 1. Streak of light on LCD screen (sunny outdoor) 2. Slow focusing 3. Slow in saving/writing onto the SD card Other than that... perfect for a little compact camera. Good build and loads of user friendly features.:bsmilie:
