5D MkII: image stabilser noise on video

I tend to agree with Br3ndan. If you put your ear very close to the lens when IS is on, you will hear exactly the noise that the camera is recording. It isn't loud to the naked ear, but the 5DMk II seems to record it loudly. It is loud as the subject you're recording (eg someone talking...

5D MkII: image stabilser noise on video

Finally took the plunge and bought a 5D Mk2 with 24-105L. Noticed very loud clicking noises in the video footage recordings. This disappears if I turn the lens image-stabiliser off. Just want to know if I got a lemon or is everyone experiencing the same thing? (ie do I need to go back...

    eos 5

I used to have a EOS 30 as well and I agree the ECF of the 30 wasn't very accurate. But the ECF on the 5 was much better. Accurate about 95% of the time for me. I think its because the AF points are spread further apart on the larger viewfinder.

    eos 5

I've still got one. I agree the eye-controlled focus is great and wonder just WHAT is keeping Canon from including it in their digital bodies. I also agree the focusing is fast and accurate, including in low light when the infrared focus-assist light momentarily projects a focusing grid on...

    "Photography not allowed" - Legal?

To all the posters above, thanks for your contributions. Special thanks to kitkat for trying to actually search the law and give an informed reply. The background for Question 1 is that sometimes I'm taking photos of my kids in a shopping centre, or even her childcare centre (which happens...

    "Photography not allowed" - Legal?

Two questions: 1. If you are in a building or shopping centre, "No photography" signs are common. Is this supported by Singapore law? 2. If you take a photo of someone (eg street photography), is it illegal in Singapore? And does it differ if you are on the street versus photographing in...

Canon 18-85mm IS coner black patch using polarizer filter at 18mm

Agree: That's the polarizer's frame blocking the field of view. Are you stacking the polariser on top of a UV filter? If so, try removing the UV filter so that you are attaching only one filter at a any one time to the lens.

    24-105 recall/availability???

Thanks for your input, fword. :) Weather sealing is certainly something I haven't yet enjoyed. I suppose what I need to know is whether the 24-105 represents a significant upgrade in image quality compared to the 28-135 which I already own.

    24-105 recall/availability???

Reviews for 24-105 have been disspointing. Distortion at wide and mediocre sharpness at telephoto not befitting an expensive "L". Would anyone recommend I upgrade my 28-135 to 24-105 if I buy a FF DLSR? (I've read the luminous landscapes comparison but am hoping someone else can provide...

G10 is flooded with noise even at ISO 100..

Just got myself a G10. 14.7 megapixel recording delivers NO extra detail over 9 megapixel mode. ie. megapixel capacity exceeds the noise level (above ISO100) and the resolving capacity of the lens. That being the case, I'd rather they have limited the sensor resolution to 9 megapixels...

DSLR Magazine says the 5D II will be 21mp

"Stop trying to hit me, and hit me!" Come on Canon, release it!

    5D II Specs

I'd wait. I think there a very good chance that we're months away from an update. 5D design/features are going to be 3yrs old soon. If the Canon keeps the next model for 3 years also, then you'll be stuck with 3-6y old features for another 3yrs... a long time in technology terms. 5D will...

    5D II Specs

if some people are excited about a new camera, no need to pour cold water. Whether true or not, comments like "it won't help you take better photos" are uncalled for. Besides, that statement isn't completely true. Whereas it may be true that creativity, a photographic eye, the drive...
