Sorry guys but i finally found the answer through yahoo and it the thumb dial actually sets Aperture in Manual mode!! now i love my 400D lesser : ( Anyway thanks alot.

sorry i dont own a 30/40/5D. im only using 400D which has a different body design and only 1 dial. whereas 30/40/5D has 2 dials. so i was wondering if the thumb dial is used to set Aperture or is it only for adjusting WB, etc..... hope u get what i mean : )

i think leica dlux3 is like an expensive pretty sony T-series and GRD is like a small SLR. i think it depends on what kind of photography u're into. GRD is pretty much like film camera as its noise resembles film grain. suitable for emo/artistic shots. do search on flickr to see photos...

thanks guys for being helpful. i noticed the 3 jerks are not always at the same area. maybe the jerks are because of the AF engine? (wild guesses)..... after using AF then later switch to MF the jerks in diff places so i figured might be where the last AF engine stopped or something...
