Buying first DSLR, D50 or 70s?

I was like you a few months ago but went for the D50. Final clincher was that it felt just right on my hands.... so it's subjective. I just like the D50 weight and size. Just came back from a trip to New Zealand and the pics are fantastic. Nothing artistic though just family photos but I...

    I juz got my D50...

Hey, dun quote me ok, I'm also newbie here....:bsmilie: I think you are correct about the noise in that the D50 less noise bec of sensor. But the colour and brightness, etc. is being done on "purpose" as default out of the cam. Or so many people claim. I think DPReview also said this...

    I juz got my D50...

Fully agree with your comments. It seems Nikon positioned D50 that way. So that you get good jpgs without needing much processing out of the box. This would attract the P&S users who wants to upgrade and yet want to have a choice to "play around" with manual settings later. Reading the reviews...

    D50 or D70s for a newbie?

A Nikon is a Nikon. You can exchange lens, lights, batteries, etc. between D50 and D70s so no need to just follow kaki bec kaki got more money so buy D70 right???:) Only thing cannot exchange with kaki if kaki uses D70 and u use D50 are the flash cards. But then, how often do you exchange these?

    D50 or D70s for a newbie?

Hi, I recently got a D50. Just as you, I was deciding between the D70s and D50. Went for the D50 instead and didn't look back. There's only 1 reason why I got D50 instead of the D70s...... The $400 savings when compare a D50 kit set with a D70s kit set is enough savings for me to get a...

    Bag

I actually bought one and used it carrying my D50 kit set plus 1 extra lens. No issues of carrying the cam securely but I did not add a notebook. I guess I can say it value for money. Only downside is that taking out the cam and lens is not as easy as the Lowepro or other proper cam bags.

    D50 LCD screen protector

That's true. Maybe I'll consider even a stick on hood if it's nicely done....:) Anyway, in the meantime, no hood for D50 so I'm still happy with my "PDA-type" screen protector.

Picture appear to be "wash out" in D50

In case you did not know, you can load custom curve to the D50. But i suggest you try reverting all to "default" first and retest as our seniors suggested. Are you shooting RAW or JPEG? I notice you mentioned you set image to "vivid" but that works better in JPEG? I may be wrong. Seniors...

    D50 LCD screen protector

The problem is D50 does not have "hinges" that allows you to hook on the LCD hood. (If you look at the D70 and other big brothers, there are 2 small indents that allows the LCD hood to clip on). As such any LCD hood (original or 3rd party) would be probably a stick on. Yucks, I'll stick to the...
