i have no problem wif the flash function when the hotshoe covered. Are u using a metal made hotshoe cover? if yes, try not to short the pins on the hot shoe..

i heard from other forum discussion about the dust problem. Somehow dunno what reason the dust will be trapped inside the lens and cannot be cleaned from outside ~~ then u need to send back to Canon service center :think: That's why i bought a lens adapter in order to avoid it. Here's how...
