Me too is a 550D user. (kit lens is 17-55mm) After 1/2 a year, I brought the 50mm f1.8 and EFS 55-250mm. Next is the Speedlite 430 EXII. Hope this helps.

Canon EF-S 55-250mm f4-5.6 IS I just got mine last week and never regret abt it. Basically i felt the IQ is sharper than the Tamrom.

I'm using VLC media player 1.1.4 Think you can download it...

i did a few videos too in Nov while in Genting, i got the same files. I played them back on VLC, no problems. My settings were 25fps, 1920x1080 but on NTSC (but i don't think this is the cause). Maybe use another player to play again or which version of VLC are u using?

Good question, don't think i will need a longer focal length for the time being. I should just get the EF50mm f/1.8 II now. Thanks.....:thumbsup:
