I just got this adapter last weekend and tried it with three Canon EF-mount lenses I have.

If it's important to use PSE, you can convert the uncompressed RAW in Capture One to DNG then work on it PSE.
Get a head mounted light with a variable flood or focused setting. Getting one of these is way cheaper than buying a new camera. Besides, judging from your photo, it's better to get a head lamp to see where you're going for safety purposes.
Do you even know what a patent is? Canon has patents for a large number of lens designs but how many of them actually make it to the production stage?
