thanks for the tip! i have managed to "zhng" my 400D! :) managed to get the hack working with my 8GB Sandisk CF card (FAT32) using HxD last nite, but didn't manage to get the hack to work with my Kingston 4GB CF card (FAT32) just now, even tho i did exactly the same thing on HxD. wonder what...

Changi beach sunrise 01 March 09

Hi all, I've been searching threads on CS on good places to see/shoot sunrise as part of my company's retreat. Can I ask TS which part of Changi Beach was this shot at? Also, if anyone knows of better places to see/shoot sunrise, can recommend? We are going to recce within the next 2...

    Tips for night photography.

Wow! With kit lens and shutter speed of 1/6 and still can get such a shot, handheld somemore! I'm impressed! You must have really steady hands! Time to practise my handheld technique liao...

    Canon 28mm F/2 VS Sigma 30mm f1.4

Likewise. Don't have the Canon 28mm f2/8, but have the Sigma 30mm f1.4 and loving it for its sharpness. Using that lens on a 400D btw.

    Canon 18-200mm IS

Lens looks good! Comes with IS, has (somewhat) macro function... Too bad is an EF-S mount... :s

    Canon Lens

i would suggest the sigma 18-200 lens (with OS). that one is an affordable walkabout lens. but then again, now that canon has announced its 18-200 lens (no longer a rumour), if you can hold out, wait till that lens comes out. but expect that lens to be about $200 more ex than the sigma...

    50mm owners

Noob here too, but just sharing the little I know (and hopefully learn something new in the process). On a FF body, at 50mm, WYSIWYG. I own a 50 f1.4. I find that on a crop body, it may get a bit too long, especially if you're taking portraits in a rather tight area. A 30mm on a crop body...

Best of canon lenses, something to share.

haha... luckily you wrote that disclaimer, otherwise sure kena flamed left right centre... :bsmilie: EF-S it is, but that 17-55 f2.8 is sure one swell piece of glass. I'm sure other users can testify to that as well...

Best of canon lenses, something to share.

Probably because of the light(er) weight (i.e. easier to carry around) and the relatively cheaper price...? :dunno: Well... those two reasons were why I chose the f4 over the f2.8 anyway...

Question about AF Points how to take grp pic clearly

I normally set the AF point to the middle one. To take group shots, like what geraldkhoo says, just increase f-number. Use flash if in low light conditions.

Would you want a good body or a perfect lens?

Likewise. Good lenses on a entry level DSLR do achieve stunning results. Of course, be prepared to pay a high premium for these good lenses. But we tend to forget something else also... It doesn't matter if you have a good body or a good lens. What's more important is the person behind the...

    Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM

if you don't mind a 3rd party lens, can also consider the sigma 30 f/1.4.
