I bought a Kenko Pro-1D and the sales explained that it is the local Jap version for Hoya, and is same as Hoya Pro-1D. Price is cheaper than Hoya. Used it and quite happy with it, minimal flaring.

Get at least a multi-coated filter, else u will suffer from flaring. Kenko/Hoya Pro-1D are pretty good and decent for the price.

Get a permanent LCD stick-on protection. With the Monitor cover, sometimes hard-dust may get ingrained onto the LCD screen if you press the monitor cover too hard. You may have to wait for the D7000 one to come out, though.

#1. At least you have a prime lense for low light/portrait. The 17-50 F2.8 by Tammy as suggested by others is a good alternative too. The 18-200 cannot really perform at low light unless with flash/tripod, though is a good walkabt lens in daylight for all the zoom range, but no nice bokeh...

Cos the motor will sense for hand shake, and "shake" back to compensate for stability. When it is on a tripod, because there is no shake, the motor will be confused and trys to shake back, so your pictures may be blurry. It may spoil the motor, got a friend who forgot to off his IS...
