your 1st pic.. if this is one of your 'selected' pic from many, i can't imagine how the unselected pics look. 1. u don't need a nikon DSLR to take this kinda of pic. i've seen many 'jie mei' who took similar kinda of pic with a PnS camera and i can tell u, their pic are lot better than this...

i think you need to brush up your skill in photoshop. The rework isn't any better than the original. if overexposed pic can be easily adjusted to perfection using the brightness adjustment, photoshop would not be so difficult to master.

babies add colors to our life.. to see babies pics in BnW is not that common maybe babies are so lively and cute!! i would love to see the color version of pic 1 and 2, esp pic 1. they are so cute, and i believe that their world shldn't be in 2 tones only.
