Wow you have a big budget for starters! Seriously speaking, 40D itself is a big baby..... the extra battery grip is not really needed to boost its protrait position. unless you really think its a hassle to change batt/ due to certain circumstances, you are better off without the grip and spend...

Erm to me HDR is more on skies and natural landscape. In this picture, the hdr is not at all flattering to the subject. To a certain extent its abit desaturated...... would have been better if there is more sky... Final note: i still prefer more skies!!!!!:bsmilie:
