hmm, did you set your Focus to Multi AF? GRD is afterall more than a P&S and less than a dslr. :P so it takes sometime to customise the setting to your desire results.

hi exiledbummer, i would suggest u try taking pictures of lesser items... e.g putting about 4 figurines in a row and another shot with figurines arranged in a way where one is slightly nearer to the camera to test the dof... hope this helps!

pardon me but i was initially very tempted to buy the view finder one but after much tot its rather not worth the hefty pricetag because the viewfinder is not digital... so u can't see if your pic is in focus or not. but it is very cute la especially if you also attach the wide angle lens on it...

is it jus me or the camera seems "quiet-er" at start up and everything also faster and clearer after updating the firmware?(shutter speed and low light control)

hi eclenikon, both are cameras tat will give you a total difference experience. GRDII has a prime fix focal length camera. if optical zoom is very impt to you, GRDII might bug you a little. but to me, I hardly use zoom in a PnS camera. F50fd seems like a very all rounded and typical PnS...
