I have both the 45mm f1.8 and the 12-40mm f2.8. In terms of sharpness, the 45mm beats the 12-40 at f2.8. And when I need more bokeh, I set the 45mm at f1.8 which is already sharp. I keep both as I find the 12-40 f2.8 useful for a wide range of application while the 45mm makes a good portrait lens.

Looking at the AF performance feedback, I will probably skip this. Seriously thought I'd get a G-series Canon again (old G-series user) but given what is coming out in the market these days, I'd think that Canon may have missed the boat again...
I think the grip makes it easier to handle if you have the longer lens. Anyway, hope they throw it in for free for pre-orders. Olympus club seems to be very silent on this new release....
