Hi,

Anyone knows where has the new Zeiss Ikon in black and a rough idea what's the price now like?

Cheers

Shriro is the Zeiss Ikon Singapore agent. They have a showroom at Plaza Singapura, Pro Photo. Not sure whether they have a black body in stock. Price is around $2300. Call them out to check.

Zeiss Ikon price in SG is higher than other countries, not sure why.
Recommend you to buy it in other countries if you have a chance to travel.

Price is pretty reasonable and include WW shipping. Not sure whether shriro covers warrantly for sets not bought from them...

I held it for a short while last Saturday and I must say.... it's a beauty. RF design wise, it's excellent. VF is very bright and it feels good in the hands.

The lens, I think it was 28/f2.8, was super smooth. Can't fault the camera. It's just excellent.

Well, the system is more than 2x the price of Bessa R3M. I believe if you are looking for a fine camera with a tradition, the Zeiss Ikon is pretty good deal without breaking your wallet (compared to L***A). :)

Alternatively you can consider it's cousin... who came out from the same factory... ;)

and warranty for one year... subsequent years with support and spare parts available as well!

I read from some range finder forum there seems to have some range finder misalignment problems with the new Zeiss Ikon body, do not know why. Anyway I believe the Zeiss Ikon range finder system is a new design, different from Leica and Voigtlander Japan, so may have some production reliability and QC issues not sorting out yet. For that matter maybe it is safer to get the body from local agent so u can check on the spot the range finder alignment.

Chiif,
Aren't you supposed to promote the Bessa?

:) Thanks for reminding... But I am a impartial businessman with passion for photography. Every product has it's strength. I am just stating the strength of a product and it is always up to the consumer to decide which product he/she wants to buy.

The Bessa likewise has it's strength. I am sure smart consumer like yourself will make a sound judgement after doing your homework. ;)

One can argue that the Bessa can promotes itself through it's qualities. ;)
