Yashica-Mat cable release?

Hi! Just got myself one of these first generation Yashica-Mat TLR cameras. Love the way it slows everything down. Focusing is a bit of a chore but when done right the results look good...except when it doesn't because of camera shake.

I've been reading a lot about this camera and got really confused about how to use a cable release. Too much conflicting information and certainly my current one does not work for it.

Does anyone know where to find one that would work?

this is the camera you have?
the button should be a detachable soft release, you can unscrew it and you will be able attach any generic mechanical cable release.

btw, you are not asking question on how to use a mechanical cable release?

Hi. The shutter in this camera does not unscrew. Only the rim of the shutter can be unscrewed as far as I can tell. Apparently this is easier on the later models (e.g. The 124 and 124G).

I would be happy to be wrong though if someone can help show me how to unscrew the button.

Hey man, you will need something like the nikon AR-2 cable release. The one that you have now is good for cameras with threaded shutter buttons. I dont think you can remove the entire shutter release button on your mat. You unscrew the rim in order to fit the AR-2 iirc.
