Hi everyone

Just a question on Yashica FX-7 versus Yashica Electro 35 GSN
I have a Yashica FX-7 which I sent it for CLA recently and now I'm thinking of buying the Yashica Electro 35 GSN to try it out as well.

So I'm in a dilemma on whether to stick to my FX-7 or get the Electro GSN?
Need some advice on the difference btwn the 2?

Thanks

The FX-7 is a Single Lens Reflex with a mirror flip action. You will hear a "pik piak" sound when you release the shutter. Pending on your lenses, you could be using a 50mm F2 or F1.9. The Yashica GSN is a rangefinder with a fast 45mm F1.7 lens. No mirror flip or "pik piak" sound. Only sound will be a slight clunk sound when you wind the advance lever. They are 2 very different cameras.

Hope the above info helps.

Hi Shuttergal !

Thanks for the info !
Are there any major difference in terms of the quality of images taken by the camera?
I saw your post on selling the Electro GSN, do you sell the shutter release and camera strap separately?

Thanks again.

FX-7 is a fine camera. Metal build rather than the FX-3 and so forth. Advantage is that lenses are interchangeable. But to get a Yashinon 50mm F1.4 for low lights... you have to compete with a lot of people who used the Contax/Yashica lenses for their DSLR. Again, they are 2 different cameras. Its hard to define or suggest which is a better camera. Each and every situation or scenario you encounter calls for a different camera at times. Most of all, its your personal preference whether to own a FX-7 or GSN.

Besides the GSN, you could look into the G, GS or MG-1.

Thanks Shuttergal for the advice!
I think I will stick to my Yashica FX-7 for the time being.
