hi guys, how do you guys "make" a battery for the yashica electro 35? i know yashica-guy.com sells the adapters which are abundant on ebay, but i was told it will not fit the LR44 button cells.

i've heard of users using LR44 cells... do you guys put a spring beneath to fill up the slack?

hmm. how much did you spend to have that battery compartment installed? :)

I would try not to modify the vintage camera.
For me, using 1 CR123A + 2 AG13 (LR44) works fine as discussed in the mentioned thread. No springs needed. Exposures are good.

Enjoy!

hmm i'm currently using a set up of 3 LR44 cells with 15 copper coins compared to what some CS-ers suggested of 10 copper coins. using 10 copper coins were not so good because there was still a little bit of slack, so the battery contact kinda goes off at times.

Same here using LR44 and 1c coins.. works fine!

I also have this camera. Can you show me how? Won't mind buying coffee for the one who can help me out. ;)

hi donvito! :)

just tape 4 x LR44 together using insulator tape. tape 15 x 1c coins. plonk the 4 x LR44 inside and put the taped coins together.

have fun! :)

Already got my B&W prints! Feels really good! hehehehe. My Yashica's working perfectly! :)

you can buy a single 4LR44 battery and make up a little "Z" spring to make up the excess space.

as the camera operates on aperture priority mode, you don't really know what shutter speed you're firing at. but there are two shutter speeds you can use, 1/60 sec when set to flash mode, and 1/500 when you don't have a battery installed. if you use the "sunny f16" rule, you should be able to gauge the aperture to get a decent exposure.

fun times never cease with this baby.

Sample shot with my Yashica. Scanned using a Canon scanner.
