Description:
The XD series of Minolta cameras are outstanding cameras in their time and are still considered as one of the best manual cameras produced by Minolta. Featuring an all metal body unlike subsequent models, it is also the world's first camera that combines aperture priority with shutter priority. Even subsequent models like the XG and X series did not have this dual-priority feature found in the XDs. The metal body found in the XDs gave it such great durability that it was even documented in the service manual that one such camera fell out of a bike travelling at 80mph (129km/h), and other than obvious cosmetic damage, the camera still worked! Imagine the same situation for your current camera - it would probably shatter into countless pieces.

The Minolta XD5 is the smaller brother of the famous XD11/XD7 (XD11 and XD7 are the same camera, just different name for different regions) that was co-designed with Leica. Identical to the XD11/XD7 in almost all aspects, the only minor features it is missing from the XD11/XD7 is the aperture readout ocular and the film-load check indicator.Whatever good stuff you have read about the XD11/XD7 would apply to the XD5 as well, as they are identical except for the few missing features mentioned above. The film rewind lever is one of the nicest to use, totally different feel from the later more plasticky models.

More info on the XD11/XD7: XD11/XD7 and XD5 here: XD5

Camera is functional and comes with fresh batteries and camera strap. The body has some slight surface marks as expected with old film cameras. Will provide 2 weeks of personal warranty. Meet up at Admiralty for viewing.
