The Canon F1 is a manual focus 35 mm camera from Canon?s line of single-lens reflex (SLR) cameras. Canon F1 was first launched in March 1971 along with a new Canon FD lens mount. The new Canon lens mount was compatible with the earlier Canon FL-mount lenses, though without open-aperture metering. The Canon F1 was said to be Canon's first truly professional-grade SLR camera compatible with a wide variety of accessories and interchangeable parts to suit different shooting preferences.
A slightly updated version of the Canon F1 was realised in 1976, called the F-1N that incorporated a few changes like a standard focusing screen from the A style to E style, increasing the ASA from 2000 to 3200, increasing the size of the shutter release cup and installing a soft rubber ring around the eyepiece. A special edition of the F-1 was produced for the 1976 Montreal Olympics that featured an Olympic emblem on the front upper left of the body. The F-1N was later replaced by the Canon New F-1 in 1981.
Old models of the Canon F1 camera can be bought from many online camera stores. Other accessories and lenses like the Canon EF 50mm F1.8 II and Canon 50 mm EF F1.4 USM are also available in stores.
