Hi all, time is here for me to part with my most ultimate camera. I realised I haven't been using it at all since I bought. Most of the time, Im with my rangefinder. I had only ran a few rolls through it and created a story with it. Most of the time, it is sitting in my dry box, clean and untouched.
The details: contax 645 is the ultimate in mf photography. why? because it basically feels like a pumped up 35mm SLR with the twice the resolution.
what you will get:
-THE LENS - (Carl Zeiss Planar 80mm f2)
The most mind-blowing point of this camera is of course the German carl zeiss optic. The standard 80mm planar is a mind-blowing F2!!!! You know what this means in world of mf with a standard aperture of f2.8? You get ultra thin depth of field. background will be blurred like butter and overall picture will have a unique signature "glow". Planar is the sharpest lens formula in carl zeiss family. Like the outstanding performance of the planar in Hasselblads but with an aperture of F2, making it the fastest mf lens out there. Oh, so planar is the sharpest and with a ultra thin dof, it is sharpest lens with the creamiest bokeh.
- THE BODY- (traditional build with modern technology)
This is the transition between the traditional way of camera construction to the new cost saving methods of building. Safe to call this the "last breed" of the traditional building method where cost is NOT a factor but the quality is.
1. The body feels rock solid and heavy, sits comfortably in the hand,
2. Grip is tight since a thin layer of matt rubber is coated through out the outstanding body for best grip.
3. Modern features on par with current dslr.
- fastest & slowest shutter speed in mf camera 1/4000 with long 8secs!
- most precise metallic shutter (not cloth with ultra long life span)
- TTL sync with all sort of heads (for studio photography)
- Auto focus / Manual focus / Focus lock.

- Mirror lockup to prevent vibration during long exposures.

-PRISM VIEWFINDER-
super bright coated view finder, I can see the texture of my subject's clothes from it. Helps a great deal when you always shoot in low light condition. You focus better and faster. All exposure/shutter speed information are displayed clearly and brightly inside so one does not have to remove it from their view, just turn their finger with the speed knob. It also has a long exposure cover in the viewfinder to completely block out extra beams of light sneaking into it from the tiny vf window (a problem with many cameras out there)
-FILM BACK WITH INSERT AND DARK SLIDE-
Film back is well built and holds the film ultra flat. Some said its flatter than a Hasselblad's. Inserts are easy to load and should you wish to go digital, just remove the back and mount a digital back for the ultimate resolution in fashion or studio photography.
-ORIGINAL CARRYING STRAP-
nice contax original carrying strap. Unlike the hasslblad's, it has 2 unique and cleverly thought out heads which "lock" and prevents the strap from going round and round (I always have to undo the turns in my Hasselblad). This 2 head alone sells for good $ online. A $150?
-CONCLUSION-
I love this camera to death and simply could not find any fault with it at all. Rumor has it that this camera is a battery sucker, maybe they got a faulty set or earlier set. But this set is working fantastic, 1 single battery can last me at least 5 shoots or more? I only changed battery TWICE since I got this camera (no kidding) I have many spare batteries but never had the chance to change into them
I got it almost new from USA (demo set which always stays in the display shelf, never handled by anyone before) at a very high cost. The lens is flawless, body is flawless, everything about it is flawless. Hence I paid good $ for them. Again I dont have time to take product shot, but rest assure my item will be as stated. Iam a VERY anal user and I like to keep my gears clean, always wiping them after a shoot and put them in the dry box in low light and dry places.

For Hasselblad users, Im throwing in an extra adapter for the contax 645 so you can mount your current lenses. Any Hasselblad lenses can work on the Contax645 with this adapter.
Additional Comments:
This is a good buy, the adapter alone cost me $150 and I paid nearly 4k for this camera. It is a demo set (no one has used it before me) and I only had less than 8 rolls through it. Safe to say, it only had 8 rolls in its entire life.
