This lens is as good as I have mentioned. No more, no less.
But be realistic, it is a USED lens. Not a new lens.
If you want to ask question after question through e-mail or sms or a S$285/- lens
I suggest you should go and get a new lens.

S$285/- is really going for a song.
I don't know how much some would expect to get a secondhand Tamron 500mm mirror lens,
S$150? I rather keep it and continue it.

About a week ago, Ken Rockwell said the D7000 is capable of precise manual focusing, I shall wait and see. Meanwhile, I tried a few more test shots using my D300s, on tripod and 5-sec time-delay. I tried to use 1/750 sec shutter speed or faster to get sharp shots. I think I somewhat succeeded.

All shots were taken using Jpeg fine mode on tripod, shutter release with 5-second delay.
The Tamron 500mm lens has a fixed aperture of F8, the DOF is extremely narrow.

A lens with a powerful 500mm range selling for a mere S$285/-,
how low more one can expect?

Even a second-hand Sigma 50-500mm zoom lens will sell for at least S$1000/-.
First offer at S$285/- will get the lens.

Please sms or e-mail me if you meet the above criterion.

This shot is the sharpest - this little girl was struggling with the "swaying bridge" station, she stopped for a moment and I caught her in time for this well focused, sharpest shot. The DOF of this lens is incredibly narrow, it is easy to be out of focus - it's a big drawback without the precise infra-red auto-focus.

Dragon Boat Race is popular with Singaporeans - Bedok Reservoir Park has a sailing club catered to the aspiring young rowers.

These 2 dragon boat shots are also well focused - I fired the shutter manually after I held the lens steady enough, of course, on the tripod.

Caught this crane operator having his lunch break, drinking ice-tea from his tea bag. He must be at least 200 ft above ground level and about 500-800m from where I took the shot. I also considered this shot well focused and sharp.

The 500mm lens can even do macro shots!

I just shot this half-moon half an hour ago using my D300s.
For a 500mm lens selling at S$285/-, what else can you ask for?

Moon-Tamron.jpg

Just as I was posting the moon shot above,
a gentleman called and agreed to take the lens at S$285/-
You can now consider this thread closed.

Even in the unlikely event that the deal is unsuccessful.
I will not sell the lens anymore.

But I have given my word to this gentleman who took the offer.
So, I will honour my word and will reserve the lens for him.

Thank you.

Sold to the fine young gentleman who reserved it a few days ago.
Thank you!
