I receive quite a few queries on HSM, mine is this model (hyperlink) and it is not HSM. I use this to shoot concert and low light conditions when flash is not allowed. I also use this to take portraits (see panda). I have not noticed or complained of slow AF on my A100 & A700. Good minty copy for beginners and budget shooters.
