The Voigtlander Nokton 58/f1.4 SL-II is based on the very popular Topcor 58mm/f1.4 design in the sixties. Photographers who have used the lens for portraiture, gave top marks for it smooth bokeh and natural colour rendition.
It's a shame that this lens do not get as wide publicity as other lenses on Nikon mount. With it's 58mm focal length on Nikon DX format, it's about 85mm on full frame, the ideal focal length for portraiture and shoulder level shots. On full frame bodies, this lens becomes a standard lens, ideal for waist level shots and street photography.
It has a built-in CPU chip that makes it fully coupled with ALL Nikon DSLR bodies. You will be able to use ALL metering functions available on your DSLR camera with this lens, unlike older manual Nikon AiS lenses where metering function is only available on the D200 series and above...
As this is a manual focus lens, it gives focus confirmation once the subject is in focus with light indication at the bottom left corner in the viewfinder.
Lens barrel is full metal construction with rubberised focusing grip, focusing is smooth and precise.
