this lens was with my D2X, the body has been sold now, so let it go cheap.
this is a professional design and d700 kit VR lens with 2 ED and 2 Asph elements,MTF curve shows not too bad, in fact very good
noticed many reviews said it is softest in Nikon lines, but personally I did not feel that, for 40-85 range, it is good (even better than AFS 18-200VR), and it is the most realistic lens ( image reproduction),it is a first VR lens from N, reviews are based on prime and professional zoom.
only thing need to care will be only on the VR 1) when very low speed ( myself is below 1/10) 2) when take in tele-side with far distance subjects.
if you take the VR on always -- 1) the battery will go flat very soon and 2) soft out put
compare to those kit lenses, it is much better, and i am let go on very competitive price ( DX kit level)
