Optic wise, it is sharper than Leica's Notilux wide open but not so much contrast like the Summilux ASPH which seasoned Leica users find too sharp without character like Zeiss optics.
Hex is famous and known to give off a pleasing soft glow like the Noctilux but retaining the sharpness in the centre of the picture. At f1.2, bokeh is sensational (please refer to sample).
It is made in Japan, finely engineered and QC and very well received everywhere in the world (just check any Leica forum and read up on it, all positive!). It is also a cheaper but better substitute to the Noctilux tested and proven.
If there is only 1 lens you must get, the Hex is the perfect choice. It is the most optically well-balanced ultra fast Leica mount lens I have ever used. It is limited and its price keeps going up since day 1. It is a looker also a performer. I'am a Hex user myself and this lens scores 10/10 for me in all aspect.
