This is one of the most under rated Leicas around. When released, due to poor marketing, people were expecting a mini M instead of getting this mega X. It had very poor reception because of the crazy cost (original price of above item was 4.2k) and slow zoom lens.
Having used this, I have to say it's one of the best Leica's for day to day use/travel.
it covers the range of the Leica MATE - and i dare say you will have problem telling the photos apart. The zoom on the x-vario is perfectly mated to the sensor and you get really sharp files corner to corner. This at a fraction of the price compared to the MATE.
I have also owned a Digilux 2 for a long time before getting this camera. I can tell you that this is the real spiritual successor to the D2 in almost every way. It's extremely well built (much better than typ 109) and the lens is better. I don't think it has the D2's filmic output, but then that camera was really good for iso 400 max, this can shoot perfectly good files at iso 3200. The manual focus is also one of the best implemented in a camera.
What this camera is NOT good for, would be shooting those super thin DOF portraits, although environmental portraits will be ok.
I guess you can tell from this long winded post that I don't really want to sell this camera. Problem is, i hardly have time to shoot with a toddler in tow, and i have too many cameras at home and will need to clear space (expect more cameras for sale from me)
