There is really nothing much to explain.
Works with almost every Nikon DSLR. I was using this previously on my D800E to write GPS data onto my EXIF.
This works with also the latest D810 and D750 according to Nikon website. For full compatibility list, please refer to the provided link:

Simply plug and play. The GP-1A is an improved version of GP-1. It takes around 10-20 seconds for me to receive coordinates in an open area. Pretty fast and reliable i must say. It is also lightweight and small size.
I wouldn't be selling this if not for the change of systems.
If you are using a shutter remote, you can also connect it to the GPS. It's really simple.
