would be great if you can provide me info on the op/drum hours incurred on your FX1E if it does have a meter for it in the menu.

Thanks.

No meter for any Sony cam la...btw I do have 3 sets similar with the same configuration if u need more but now 1 set just being reserved...all use around 10+ tapes only...:)

its a great cam with NO roller shutter issues in the new CMOS cams..

yes...was considering the new cam with problem at more than 2 times the cost of FX1E...

Meter have lar...but probably only for pro series of cameras.

FX1 is classed as 'consumer model', so probably dun have that feature. :D

Thanks for the clarifications....will literally 'weigh' out on my options as I am looking for a lighter camera for my steadicam rig. Been looking at the HVR-V1, but may opt for a tapeless or solid state recording media.... :D

ok... V1 is 1/4inch CMOS only like 40D sensor while FX1E is 1/3inch CCD like 1D mk3 the EX1 is 1/2inch CMOS like full frame 1Dsmk3 in term to get nice bokeh...:) but all CMOS have roller shutter issue with flashes...btw solid state cam is more heavy than FX1E...wat is the weight that your steadicam rig can handle? Maybe u can consider A1 or HC1 for use on your steadicam...

Already have Z1, A1 and PDX10...used to have Panasonic AG-DP800 3x 1/2" CCD full-size cam as well.

Z1 when loaded up with full rig including wireless mic receiver, Video assist transmitter & on-board LED light is slightly on the heavy side for proper balancing.
A1 is a tad too grainy for decent stuff especially in low light setups.

That is why i am putting the FX1 as a slightly lighter consideration for a backup or 2nd unit steadicam rig.

Frankly the FX1 on the merlin is still pretty heavy. the Canon A1 on merlin is still manageable but not for long too. The vest would be impt

If I use steadicam, I will choose HC1...as sound & ext light r not a issue to me anymore...

Btw I have left one set left...just sold another set to a young chap...:) Hope he will be a success in his future career.
