Not true.

The latest firmware is probably already installed in Hacker's camera. If not, it can be downloaded FOC from the internet.

However, there is a shutter and an LCD upgrade which are optional and those are expensive. They will be available in August. You can definitely do without those.

No need to pay unless you are upgrading to the scratch resistant LCD back and for a quiter shutter sound (but speed will be reduced to 1/4000 from 1/8000).

SW upgrades are FREE ;p.
