Looking for a fast prime lens for my newly-bought D40. Needs to be able to auto-focus. Budget is my main limiting factor. I sold my Sony gear for $600, bought a D40 for $500, so I've $100 left to play with. Willing to up the budget to $200 if necessary and assuming my wife doesn't object too fiercely
I'm familiar and a big fan of the very affordable 50mm f1.8 from Sony, so I'd be fine going with that focal length. But I'd like to try something like 24mm or 28mm for wider shots but with the bigger aperture (like 1.8 or thereabouts) for depth of field. I'm not too familiar yet with the nikon product range so my ears are open for suggestions/advice.
