Well, i would advice u to stay clear of this shop... :nono:
I've been cheated once & I never go back to them anymore. :blah:
A few CSers has had bad experience with them also...
I suggest u go to those stores tat are recommended by photographers...Cathay Photo, Alan Photo, MS Color, John 3:16, The Camera Workshop are some of the recommended stores...

if u search the forum on "Die Die must not go",
Worldwide photo is ranked top of the list.

hahaha.. I'm one of the victim as well...
had been scolded by the boss becoz they kind of forcing me to quote a price which I'm willing to pay.. but I'm customer.. they are the one who suppose to quote the price and not me right?

My advice.. dun go... hahaha.. :D :D

Initially I wanna get a Kenko teleconverter which only cost $100++, but they persuaded me into buying another 3rd party teleconverter for $250...Which they said its very good and worth the price...The next day I tried to change since I found out tat its very soft & have serious distortion on the sides...But they rejected me rudely, I even pleed & beg to them saying I'll top up more to get other things...

I finally found out a few days later tat it only cost $70+ at other shops, and I paid $250 for it...:hung:

I was a newbie in digital photography at that time...I swear not to step inside tat bloody store again, not even wanna look at their f**king faces...

Wonder if the moderators will allow a 'Sticky Thread' with a name of infamous shops which should be blacklisted by us. Like this maybe newbies won't have such bad experiences of getting conned.

What do you think?

ohh shhhhhiiiiiiiiiittttttttttt!!!!

yep i bought my first camera from them. was scouting for an olympus C-730UZ. john3:16 was one of the shops i went to but they quoted me $865. so i went to peninsular and found that worldwide photos gave a real good deal: $824. so i bought lor... but didn't buy anything else besides the camera. but the boss seemed like a really nice fella to me though.

i didn't know it was such a black-listed shop man... now that you guys tell me, think i'll stay clear of that place. thanks alot guys. thanks for looking out for us newbies.

Be careful if the price they qoute is way below what other shops sell for. One possibility is that they are pushing u a grey market item and are not informing u of it.

Make sure it comes with a warranty card, and sometimes it is stamped or has a mark which indicates a local service centre to bring the cam to if there's a problem.

Unless u don't mind paying a little less for a camera with no warranty, that is...

Also, watch out for display sets...

Basically, stick to the 4 usual places : Cathay Photo(CP), Alan Photo(AP), MS Color(MS) or John 3:16. Some folks have had issues with these places, but normally not so bad like some others.

Exactly...I dun mind if they try to earn maybe $10-20 out of me...but, hell...this is way too much! Freakin scumbags...In the end I've to sell away my teleconverter at only $50...

I've heard of someone he conned to buy a wide angle converter for $600+, when it's worth only around $100 at most.

He said it was a wide angle lens, and putting it over normal lens would achieve the same focal length and quality as a wide angle lens, and don't need to remove the original lens to achieve wideangle, just put this new 'lens' over.

Both the autie and uncle there dont understand photography equipment i guess, their objective is just to sell things.

 One of my friends kenah for over-priced tripod.

My only experience with this shop :

I was shopping with my friend around Funan and Peninsula Plaza at the beginning of the year. My friend wanted to buy a Minolta 7Hi and most of the store, ie John 3:16 and CP were run out of stock. At that time, 7Hi was quoted around SGD1850.

We happened to stop by WWP (due to its good location) and we saw there was a 7Hi on the display window.

We went in, Without any bargain, it was quoted at SGD1500 (excl GST)
My friend was amazed and wanted to buy it immediately. I was very suspicious with that particular set that it could be offered way below market price. I dun believe there will be such a big frog jumping around the street (Cantonese Idiom)

We ended up not buying the camera.

Then I joined CS in April. And read that sometimes that shop sells faulty set or returned set.

Be aware and be alert.

2 yrs back, I was quoted $21 for a 2CR5 battery when other places are selling it for $8-12 ...can you believe it?

I fully concur. such a thread would serve to alert the consumers here as well as to send a message to these shops that we are not to be pushed ard. with unity comes strength :)

in fact, we should even cc or drop an email to these shops to inform them of such a thread so that they know that their evil deeds have been exposed :)
