just wonder anyone uses wireless transmition from mobile cam to projector?
tat means transmitter side must be batteries operated.

Consumer uses 2.4GHz any issue like delay and quality lost?
Broadcast uses Microwave.. I guess is too ex and need licence if i am not wrong?

So is there anything between the 2.4GHz and microwave?

Anyone can recommend where can i get this gadget? and wat's the price range like?

thx.. cheers
:)

bro, most broadcast microwave systems actually encodes the video & audio data stream into MPEG2, then on the receiving end, it will do a demodulate.

on the basic 2.4ghz system, it transmits video data directly in analog, which means that there's totally no redundency....either you get the image clearly or noisy picture when there's bad transmission/reception.

Will drop you a SMS to share about my solutions..

Thx for the info..
probably will scouts around SLS and SLT.
Actually want it for backup for event shoot on live projection when times that laying BNC cable is not visible..
and oso wanted to experiment something with a remote cam to my car.. ;), tat's why renting is not so advisable.
cheers

Bro, u can try something like "tandberg" voyager lite. Is portable using battery pack, tx between 2.2 to 2.6Ghz using COFDM moudulation.

Boy you're talking about a pretty high end product from Tandberg TV.
Taiwan manufacturers have a significantly cheaper alternative displayed at the last broadcast asia, but still, pricing for such systems are pretty expen$ive. :(

Depending of tx power & frequency, getting permits to use the RF system might be quite a pain from IDA. Moreover, most of these systems are designed to be mounted on full-size cameras, and not exactly practical on smaller cameras......and with the tx power of a few watts at 2.4ghz, I'm not going to lug the TX unit with the antenna around anywhere near my body. :P

:bsmilie:

I'm using such unit currently. reception quality based on situation. Is only good for monitoring reference, but for live projection or recording, don't think is a good idea cos it will not be giving consistent feed. Stick to good cable.

However, it is useful in my situation when I want my director not to be too close to me... vying to see the camera's small LCD and hindering my moves. I pass him/her the handheld monitor with built in receiver and "you sit there and watch.... don't come near me and block my way!" hee

For transmitter from camera side, i put it in the small pouch together with the lithuim batt bought from SLS... (last long!)

Due to work usage, I got a few sets and don't mind letting off one of the set.

pm me if u need.

I've got a battery operated (AA) 2.4GHz camera transmitter for rent $50 per day. Call /SMS 96961157

Sorry to be a spoiltsport to your offer, but you can get a low powered 2.4ghz tx/rx unit for slightly more.

And I guess running 10x AA cells to attain 12v pack is a bit heavy?
Perhaps you can try lithium cells at 11.1v? They're significantly lighter to lug around.

Bro, almost two years later since your last enquiry about microwave / wireless cams...
is this what you're looking for? ;p

hey DXNMedia

That is really cool. Do you have any footage from the wireless to share? Will the wireless work at Esplanade (indoor)?

No problems with indoors like the esplanade.
My RF team will assess the location and determine where to mount our receiving antennas.

Footage quality is broadcast quality.
In the event that it is out of range for transmission/reception, my receiver will have a frame store where it freezes the last frame of video before loss of signal.

This technology is widely used by many sports production like F1, golf, soccer broadcasts, and especially popular with local NDP productions. Aerial footage that you see on TV during NDP is downlinked by microwave as well.

looks impressive.. will take note if there are any of this requirement. It will be good if u can let me know the rental price so i can budget in for any enquiry.
thx.:)
