Hi all,

This is my first time I step into cash converter and wanted to sell off an LCD TV and the sale person totally piss me off...It is waste of our time to as they ridiculous low price and the worst of all low ballers I have seen...they offer only 10% of the purchase price and at the store, they are selling the same unit at 70% of the market price..anyway, I told them I would rather donate to salvation army or donate to the poor...it ain;t worth my time and transport and petrol for it...what are your other experiences with them ?

Sold some small items once, and never went back there to sell again... used to go there to get cheap/hard to find cds.... other stuff, not worth my time... they don't even keep the cameras/lenses properly if you've noticed..

i think it's a free market, and you don't have to sell them your items.

they have storefronts, staff wages, etc.. maybe to you you see a 10% purchase price and then a 70% market price sale price - so you do the math and end up with a 60% profit of market price figure. you deduct all the nitty gritty things, this becomes less. of course this doesn't mean that they are going to profit very little - obviously a business which is not profitable would have closed shop sooner or later.. but you should remember this point.

there are certain items which are not so easy to get rid of, like used CDs, and old crockery, etc.. that cash converters will buy. obviously at a pathetic price, and you will see them selling it for more later on.. but hey, also remember that there are traders present in the market. you can see some of them in clubsnap B&S, buying cheap, selling high.

think of it this way - if i am a trader and cash converters starts selling used tvs at 30% of market price when i can easily find buyers willing to pay 70% of market price, i hou seh liao. i don't even need to incur the costs of opening a shop front to collect the tvs in. i just happily buy off them and sell to my customer straight away.

sometimes you can find steals though.

i think some of the pentaxians have found nice stuff there for very low price. :)

Do they provide warranty when you buy camera stuff cos I see a lot of those equipment are very very very very very badly maintain and got fungus...????

Most of the patrons are FT and thus they just believed what the sale person told them...this is what I overheard...

Saleman: " This video cam very good, load 8mm old tape (1990s model) and is better than DVD video cam as this videocam can transfer video fast to computer....."

FT: " How come the video a bit blur..."

Saleman: " This is special effect" ...wait I show no special effect...saleman reached for cloth and start to clean the video cam lens and give a bit of hot breath to it and clean again....and then say to the FT..

" See now a bit clear already...a bit dirty is ok...very cheap already..."

LOL :)

BTW, where can we find cash converter competition ? I am looking for savvy karang guni man who can take all my electronics stuff away...as long as the price is better than cash converter...hahahahahahaaa

ya i gt some really cheap thing there BEFORE ...
when cash converters just open, they anyhow price the stuff ... either it very cheap or very expensive and i gotta a few cheap things there ... but they now got clever and the price is about the same as outside ... and it getting less and less interesting stuff there

Another option...Salvation Army. You won't get any cash back but you will feel good to know that you have help someone somewhere.
