Why you should wait for NEX7, and pass NEX3 & NEX5

anyway its stupid for sony to make E mount to A mount adaptor and can't auto focus if using A-mount lens! this they ought to be shot.

The size of an AF motor makes placing it in the adapter impossible. However, SSM lenses are another story, and that's why the Japanese manager said they're working on it.

They could always change the flange distance by incorporating the AF motor... a bit disappointed that only SSM Alpha lenses can be used in the future...

But then again this camera isn't for me... I'm still looking for the Holy Grail... a compact camera the size of a PnS with an OVF, fast AF and at least APS-C sized sensor...

I was reading the Dpreview forums and Henry Richardson made a post remarking that it was possible in the past to manufacture FF 35mm film cameras with all the above I wanted, yet it seemed impossible now... I wonder if any of the top 3 old world camera manufacturers will respond with something of that kind... I refer here to Canon, Nikon and Pentax... perhaps they would revive some of those old compact film camera designs and throw in some manual controls and a ability to change lenses.... wow! That would make my day...

I was hoping against hope perhaps that the NEX5 would meet my needs... a bit sick of changing compact digicams and finding out that the image quality doesn't quite cut or I can't do anything about the exposure quality or I can't change modes or settings fast enough... so I continue to lug a huge A900 DSLR with vertical grip on school trips... with only 1 lens and 1 flash now... (used to be 3 lenses and 1 flash)... hopefully this will change sometime towards the end of this year... who knows...

However, having said what I said above, I think I really should go to Wisma and give the NEX5 a try out...;p

I kinda miss my Sony W300 which I lost... and kinda regret getting the TX-7 which is so plasticky and finicky to use (espensive too!)... what I especially dislike about compacts is the very "flash" look when forced to use flash cos the high ISO mode is horrible (a point I must make about the A900 as well when shots are underexposed slightly)...

Having run through about 5 compact digital cameras, I wonder if I should give another a try... started with a Fujifilm S9600 (small very low res screen, rather poor DR and image quality), Casio Exilim EX-V7 (horrendous image quality, poor colour, constantly blurred images), Sony W300 (nice colour on daylight shots, but rather poor low light flash images, not wide-angle enough at 38mm), Panasonic TZ-5 (nice zoom range, but finicky to find the right focal length, horrendous DR, especially easily blown highlights, but video quality is 720p and pretty good), Sony TX-7 (plasticky, gimmicky touch screen, very little room for changing settings)... guess I better sell off all of them before they lose too much value...

And while I'm at it (A rant actually), I hope Sony minaturises the 16-105mm zoom lens for the NEX system... that's one awesome zoom lens for the money and range... very very suitable for a one lens travel kit... wide enough, long enough, fast enough even without flash... for those unaware, the 35mm equivalent range is 24 - 157mm... very nice range, 24mm is good for building interiors without distortion, large group photos, landscapes, tall buildings, over-the-head shots, etc... brilliant... and 157mm is a pretty substantial zoom for far-off objects... mmm... now just add a tiltable LCD screen to the NEX body, that would really make me seriously consider getting one as a second body...
