Why we need to put watermark on our pics

Folks, this link is very clear as to why we should place watermarks on our images when we post on the internet.

I came across this accidentally & I am sure many of your pictures were reposted without permission or credits given.

Are you saying jayram has stolen other people's photos and posted them as his own?

If that is what you are saying, then you should just say it clearly - provided it is the truth.

Otherwise it is a half baked wishy washy message that tries to imply something, but dare not clearly state what is it that you are saying.

Which is a waste of everybody's time.

Which makes others doubt the truthfulness of your implied message.

Think or say whatever you want to. All I want to say is that sharing picsd on the web has inherent risks & that all should place watermarks.

Sharing is perfectly ok so long as due credits are given

A nicely done watermarks is a nice ornament to ur photos, and it makes it look like authentic.

a watermark creates ownership of that photo

If someone really wants to steal your picture, they can find ways to remove the watermark (crop, content-aware fill, clone stamp, etc). Watermark is not much of a use unless it's obnoxious (in which case people can't even see your photo)

I have no idea who Jayram is (from flag badge looks like a Russian) and maybe the TS got some personal vendetta against this person Jayram.

If a public accusation is made against a person that he/she is probably a thief:

The accuser must state exactly (which photo) what was stolen.
The accuser must provide evidence.

Otherwise the thread is worthless and reflects poorly on the TS.

This thread does not serve to accuse Jayram of theft.

The intention is strictly to raise awareness to many possibilities of what may happen when one does not protect his/her copyright. (I admit that putting watermarks is not the best or even effective type of protection)

There may have been good or bad intentions (I do not presume to know which is it).

However, even intentions can turn bad, even not on purpose.

For example, Jayram may have only wanted to share photos on another site (for which basic courtesy, to me at least, would have meant asking the photog for permission or mention the photog in his posts). But, there's is the possibility that someone else would then pick up the pics shared on the other website & passed it on as his/her own.
