Why Doesn't Price Guide Covers Compacts?

As per title.

Because no one gave the prices to the mods?

Price list can only be updated if fellow CSers send in the prices they paid for certain cameras. So if no one sends in the prices for compacts, of course there's no price lists for compact. Surely you don't expect the mods to call up every shop and ask for a quote, do you? :)

The list doen't include them in the first place.

Please note that price guides are started by normal CSers. The mods just took over and maintained it to keep it less messy.

If you think a price guide for compacts is useful, you should take the lead and start one.

With no one informing the mods in charge of the price lists, of course they're not included in the lists.

Even if the price guides don't include compacts, I'm sure it isn't that hard to call up the usual shops to enquire the prices for yourself. :)

I would think that in general, majority of the forum content here is voluntary, except for organized commercial shoots and the B&S section. With that said, it then boils down to what the bulk of the forum users are interested in. If no one bothers about compacts' market prices, then no one will contribute to the price guides like how they do to the DSLR ones. My guess is that the interest level for compacts just isn't really as strong compared to the other types of cameras.

Maybe if you waved some money in the air, someone might approach you to help compile prices. Who knows?

really love you guys for coming out and saying it!

TS - got your answer?

ok. i'll add on to why is it not feasible.

the problem with compacts is that there are way too many brands, and models.
to add on the problems, development of new models are ridiculously fast. there is no point trying to track the price for that.

dslrs on the other hand are still managable and each development takes about a year or 2. hence it is more viable for us to track that.

hope it helps

guess its so hard to call up a shop and ask for prices, or surf certain website and look for prices,

why dont TS u step up and keep track of all the compact prices and pm the mods, by doing that, u will not only help yourself but others too, ;)
