Why does my photos have a black border?

hey guys, i need some help to clarify what is the problem with my camera.
i am currently using my Nikon FM2N to shoot most of my photos.
but there are black borders that appear on the left of most photos. what is wrong with my camera? this is an example.

some of the black borders are even border.
hope some one can clarify this with me. thanks a lot! :)
 

concur with the others, it's a matter of how careful or precise the person doing the scanning is on the edges without loosing anything in the photo.

in your negative, there is a 2mm gap between each shot, and each exposure is about 36mm in length. so assuming that the photo tech got it all wrong and scanned in the whole gap, the black edge still only be no more than 5% of your scanned shot. if your black edges are more than this, you have a different problem. else, the black edge can be easily be cropped out by any photo editing software.

Cactus jACK, i do have some photos that are more than 5% borders. may i know ahat is the different problem that i may be facing?
 

Check your negatives. Are the spaces in between each frame even? If so, it the scanning. If not, then its your film advance mechanism.. hope it helps :)
