Yes, it starts with a large aperture and closes it a little for every exposure, to simulate a round aperture and the apodization filter. It doesn't change the shutter speed between exposures as far as I know. Interesting technology for sure! Incidentally, one can see the effect of the aperture in one of the images I posted, namely
