Which System to Get??

Halo!!

Was using coolpix for a while before deciding to learn film.
Finally decided to give the slr a miss and start with rangefinder.

Now I need to decide which system to choose....
Been scouting around and came across the bessa r/r2.
Also got some advice on paying more and getting a used leica instead of a new bessa.

Can any kind soul advice me on this?

p.s. quoted S$1,500/- for a bessa r (or r2-can't recall) with a 50mm - is this a good price??

it all depends on what you want to shoot. u can get a prime lens 50/1.5 or 15/4.5 to shoot ultra wide angle.

which 50mm /1.5 (US$399) or /2.5 (US$275)

I heard quite a number of Spore Voigtlander user bought it from CameraQuest. So their price + mailing must still be much cheaper than those selling in Shops here.
You can email them and they will quote you the freighting charges.

There's a guy manics_73 selling his G2 with 28mm, 45mm, 90mm TLA200 for $2000.
Cheap for a full set, But not really in mint conditions (have not seen it but talk to him before)

I would go for a mechanical Bessa, cos I had one :bsmilie:

I find the G1/2 a bit on the heavy side (voigtlander set is much lighter), but G1/2 feel more SOLID..

and was told that a set of batt can run for only around 20-30 rolls of films ( can't confirm )

G2 is definately solid. although its heavy it gives you this very solid and rugged feeling. and the carl zeiss lens is a plus too!

In my first roll, still getting used to the focusing ;p

dont worry... you get used to the focusing.
zeiss is well know for their sharp optics!
and dont bother to get a polarizer,
use velvia if you want to get the rich deep blue sky!

Very good... and the lens that attach to your Bessa? Which Bessa?

I just bought a mint condition (almost new) spare Cosina 107-SW for my 21mm and viewfinder for $150 at camera exchange. (cos to lazy to remove the viewfinder)

Theres still one more set, maybe you will be interested.

if it is the one on camerquest.com, its a mailing list. once u sign up by following the instructions on the webpage, and then u will start receiving emails at ur chosen email address which u can interact with the pple there.
