Which Pro Lab?

I've noticed in the recent threads on Grace and KT Digital that those who raved about Grace are mostly newbies while those who stood up for KT are those who's-been-around-for-a-while. Those who are pro-KT, like Azure, Bluestrike, Mpenza, Ninja, SniperD, have you tried Grace? What's the verdict?

I'm looking for a place to get quality prints at reasonable prices but most of those mentioned here are too far for me except Grace. I'm wondering if Grace is as good as KT...

I use Fotohub at Bukit Timah Road (near Second Avenue junction), they are not cheap ($0.50 for 4R) but they meet my expectation.

As a guide I prefer Fuji FDI labs. Grace I think is also a FDI. So is DigiPro at Marine Parade, Miao Lann at Bt Batok, Color Lan at Adelphi, 35mm at Bt Timah and Konoto at PP.

But I won't go to those "chain" FDI labs like Standard or Soo Kee. Somehow I don't dare to trust them. Moreso since the one at Tiong Bahru Plaza was so rude and fierce to me when I asked them about digital printing 3 weeks ago. I'd rather go to where I'm confortable with the people and they give me good rates.

My take on it. And yes, I stand by my remark on Standard, which I deem as "fair comment".

To have many post under their belt doesn't mean that these ppl are good. Similarly, newbies can be some pro that's very much better than anyone in the forum.. thus, i don't think it's appropriate for u to quote that since newbies favour Grace, you wonder if they are as good as KT.

Good or bad, it's best to see if for yourself. I've a friend who complained that photohub standard has dropped recently, but there are still many who stand by them.. so it's kinda of personal view.. try it yourself cos u are the best to judge.

PS : The above comment has nothing against those who's-been-around-for-a-while. No hard feeling!

Maio Lann at Bt Batok, this I have to know coz the only decent photolab I know in the west around my area is Grace... And it is not that near my house either, have to take 2 transport to reach there. Anyway, I tried Grace and they are the best in the west that I have tried so far. Candid photo at Lot 1 CCK is not too bad either, has given me satisfying results so far.

If you could tell us which area you are staying it will be better to advise you. Personally, I would recommend Photo bugs at Jurong East since I am staying in that area. Their prints are warm and I like the colour. The services is fast and you can get your 8R development in 1 day. Price wise, I think they are resonable. You can check them out if you keen.

To be frank, if you can't really decide Grace or KT, based on the comments given here, why not you try them out personally? You might end up loving both.

I've went to Candid @ Lot 1 a few times (before it was renovated), and I sasly must admit that the quality wasn't that good. Maybe I got lemon prints then?

I'll definitely try it out one of these days....
My only experience with Stanley was kinda marred when the machine broke down... in the end, my prints had slight streaks on them (due to the dirt on the rollers).

Oh well, I must admit that I'm kinda suay when it comes to things like this.

Although the Stanley prints were streaked, Joanne was kind enough to offer me fruits (lol) and we sorta chatted. She even gave me a further discount on the prints as well!

It's just close by Bugis. 5 mins walk. They reputable to be one of the best in Singapore. If I am not wrong, their digital 4R is 35-40 cents. They are very consistent with their prints and slides.

Very friendly as well. Those staying near Kallang or Geylang, they have another branch near Kallang MRT. (10 minutes walk)

Those want fast, go look for Stanley Lim Colour Centre at Midlink Plaza. The person in cahrge is Joanne. As mention by a member earlier, she is an extremely helpful and friendly person. Contact her before you go hp: 98583502 but they no not have digital printing yet.

Depend on your needs, each lab has it's plus and minus.

Hi guys,

I have refrained from posting about Grace till I am reasonably sure its good. I was impressed with my first prints. My subsequent prints are very much up to standard as well. Frankly, its every bit as good as Fotohub. I have been with fotohub all these time and I can tell you, in all honesty, you won't be able to differentiate the photo quality.

My grouse with fotohub, recently however, is that, their standard is not too consistent. They have a total of 6 staff and depending on who you get the pic quality will vary too. My peranakan food and wakeboarding pics were terribly exposed and color corrected. Someone did it in a jiffy.

Also, they are quite expensive. I use to reason with my friends that what you pay is what you get and its worth every cent of it when you compare it with the neighbourhood chains. However, Grace hasn't dissapoint to date and I'm fairly confident the standard will be more consistent than fotohub. At least I'm sure they do not have 6 staff manning the machines.

Lastly, Grace is able to do 2mm borders for 4R pics. Thats exactly what I want. I have talked to Fotohub abt it. Basically, its a setting in the machine which you need to change and Fotohub says they won't do it (for me).

Personally, I'm switched altho I have like hundreds of unused credits with fotohub...=(

Another place I like is Konota. Excellent for wedding pics. I mean it. These guys give the best skin tones.

These are obviously my own personal opinions. Thought I leave with that reminder.

the one at far east plaza ( soo kee ) is quite good ; experts told me the machine calibration is one of the better configuration... + the staff who does the colour correction is okay ..
