Which Micro Lens is Best

The prime micro lens has this problem - frame then focus, then find framing has changed (due to focal length change in the lens to compensate for closer focus than 1:2), and have to reframe again, refocus, and maybe iteration number 3. And that on a tripod not the most convenient thing to do. And maybe the bug has moved on.

What I would do is to first of all figure out whether 60 or 105 would work and the above 2 to 3 step iteration would kick in.

Not quite what you meant - which is probably more of get a short at 1/3 the frame, then zooming to get a tighter shot.

I might need to get my colleagues in Japan to help if the lens moves that fast...

I know what you mean. Which is why I love the 70-180 so much. Convenience.
Anyway, being the catalog hog that I am... there's one at Fujiya Camera at Nakano right now. AB- grade at 75600Y. Grade... says it has scratches. I assume its on the optics.

Where do you go to see these catalogs?

Thanks for the pointer. I will not do this online, but will ask my friends to look out for me in their local shop. Got some miles to burn to, maybe take a trip to shot shot and bring some lenses back later.

And the 70-180 being so popular I could possibly get it and find out if I like it, if not sell it, no harm, and probably not much financial loss.
