between the two i would go for 24-85.....sharper

The 19mm is not that wide. If you are really into wide, both are not suitable.

TO answer your question...it depends....:D

frankly speaking, i need a good sharp lens for portrait. i like the 24-85 though, what u think? i think one bro selling that? or should i go for a prime lens of 50mm... ?

The 50mm might be a bit too sharp for portrait... the 28-85 is also tack sharp but seems more suitable... why not get a 2nd hand portrait lens?

which brand and model will that be? a few bros selling on the forums, 24-85, 24-105... ? are they suitable?

I notice a number of users here preferring the 28-85 and 24-105 from Minolta... these seem to produce better results than the equivalent 3rd party lenses... I cant' really comment except to tell u what I observe others using cos I dun do portraits and dun use these lenses.

24-85mm is slightly sharper than 24-105mm, but 24-105mm has longer range and (D) compatibility with ADI flash.

i dont get u at all? both lenses are totally diff if u ask me????

19-35 is more of a wide lens, mostly use for landscape..

24-85 is a standard lens for common use....

if u want to cover the whole world, get a 18-200mm....

For portrait and sharp...get the KM 24-85 if you have to choose between the two. There are other options as well as others has mentioned.

Another lens worth considering is the KM 28-135 f4-4.5, it's another "OLD" sharp lens with good focal range coverage from portrait and tele. Cost more than the KM 24-85 in the 2nd market as well. :)
