Just came back from cambodia with my D60 a few weeks ago. I have the dual lens kit as well so before going I was thinking if I wanted to just bring one lens since I was going to the boys brigade learning center in one of the villages to help teach english and computer skills with a team. At first I was just thinking to bring my body and 18-55 since I wanted to travel light and we only had one day at angkor wat.

In the end I brough everything including my sb600 and 55-200 and packed them into a deuter 18L bag pack. Sure it was abit more troublesome to carry extra stuff along compared to just slinging the D60 as we walked quite abit. But even with my noob skills, the 55-200 did come in useful and I guess the extra hussle of switching lens was worth it.

Just my 2 cents :)

I would suggest getting the 18-105mm from the BNS as people are getting the D90 and selling away the kit lens from as low as $350.

I also know the pow ka leow lens can solve my problem.....but I don't have one leh.,...
Just got some price check on the 18-200mm VR is about $945
then my Jap trip already cost me bomb!!!

Lol for just a single lens, go for the 18-55mm. Don't worry so much:) Telephoto has its uses but for tours, I think the 18-55mm would suffice. For the closes focus length, 18-55mm wins the 55-200mm. For wide angle shots, 18-55mm wins 55-200mm. The lens which is ligher is 18-55mm. So just take the 18-55mm

You go on tour is to enjoy with (family?friends?), not to take the best photos you can and keep changing lens when the rest of them are having fun. You have a 50mm lens mounted on a 576 megapixel full frame sensor at 72FPS with unlimited storage. Not forgetting autofocus time is way faster than the fastest autofocus camera. Take photos for memories:) hope this piece of humble advice helps you

Thanks for the advise!! I think I have found my solution!!!

just bring 18-55mm and enjoy my trip.

Thanks for the good lobang! will look out in BNS session....but I think I will just go with my 18-55mm

Your camera has a 1.5x crop right? If so your 18-55mm would be something like a 28-80mm kind of zoom lens which is suitable for MOST picture taking situations during travelling. I think you should enjoy your trip more than worry about your camera gear so your 18-55 will be more than enough IMHO. Afterall, I understand your trip is more of a holiday than a photography trip. So you should try to shoot more of your family having a good time and take group pictures with your family at various location. If you have your family with you, you should devote more time for them, enjoy the moment and scenery together with them. These are more important than those pictures. So remind yourself the purpose of your trip.

Afterall, your camera can only capture that much but your heart can capture everything about your Japan trip.

Cheers! ;)

Thanks! for the enlighterment..... i have found my solution.....just go with 18-55mm......

AF-S DX NIKKOR 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR

nice balance with both wide and mid tele

most of the time is Nikon 17-55F2.8 :)

if you have no other choice, only 18-55 and 55-200, then bring 55-200 + a front mount 0.45 WC it covers 25-200, good for almost all shots you want!:bsmilie::bsmilie:
