Of course it's spoon lah! Spoon can be used to eat rice, meat, veggie and drink soup. Fork only serves to provide more convenience. Spoon can do almost everything fork can, but fork can't scoop up soup for nuts

Is there one brand that is truly superior? It's all up to you. And your needs. Suggest you read up a little, use some review sites given below, take all of them with a pinch of salt, go down to the shops to try... And even then, it may not be the right choice. Sometimes, you just have to go with your gut feeling and the maximum limits of whatever knowledge you can garner, and live with the decisions, and roll with the disappointments. Cheers.
Buy a camera that you will take out and shoot often, be it a PnS DSLR 4/3 is pointless to buy a cam that you don't shoot often with. Go out and feel which is the cam that feels perfect in your hands and that's the best cam!
You cannot compare an object to a brand. If you ask me, a cannon will destroy a Nikon camera. However, the Nikon camera can make a cannon look good. Do you want to photograph cannons or do you want to destroy cameras? I suppose that will decide your choice.
Jokes aside, whichever brand you choose, which is better depends on your personal needs/wants. I would say Canon and Nikon are quite similar in terms of lens line up (the quality of the lenses can be debatable, but you should find all the focal lengths you need under both systems).
