hi all

Looking for a film leica but don't know which one? M4? M6? M7?

i started photography with digital sensor, so i've no experiences in film nor dark room. Previously I shot with Nikon dLSR, lately switched to M8 (more than 18 months) and own several leica glass.

how difficult is it to use M4-P with lightmeter? or should i simply save up for M7 just for the ease of use?

p/s i saw (the movie) James Nachtwey using a lightmeter (for his canon), so i always fancy using one...

Get yourself a Classic M6. The ones which are non-TTL. M7 would be close to your M8 which has Aperture Priorty. :=)

I've been using a M4-P without the meter (have one actually but rarely use it)

I just use a small piece of paper with a table for the correct settings according to the current available light :)

Has been working well for me and I get to experience how people actually took photos in the past when meters were not as common then!

Of course there are times when I get a little stumped regarding the light but that's when bracketing comes in.

For a start a M6 Classic or TTL would be a very good choice, older Ms are also good but you would have to watch out for any malfunctions etc as M4s and earlier are very old cameras and most likely would need a CLA sooner than later.
