which brand of Dog canned & dry food is best value for $$$ ???

i have been feeding my cocker spaniel with pedigree canned food mixed with the pedigree dry biscuits..
recently i heard from a staff at a pet shop dat pedigree is too saltish ( wonder how she knows :bsmilie: )and not good for my dog..
Anyone knows of any brand dat is cheap and good??i dun mind paying abit more for really power stuff..

Many years ago they used to sell this dog food that came in the form of a giant sausage. I think the brand was Iams. You were supposed to slice it yourself, like ham. My dog loved this. I used this over the cheap dog kibble, as I myself wouldn't like eating dried food everyday.

Abady and solid gold are two premium dog food that I know for... but the price is there for the quality.

to me, kibbles and supplements sure beat canned food.
If you are willing to try raw food, you can always go research on the benefits of feeding raw. A site to begin reading could be

Abady and solid gold are two premium dog food that I know for... but the price is there for the quality.

My vote goes to Abady too. Ever since my dog start on Abady, her coat is more shiny, do not have skin problem and her body is also more toned. Thou it's more expensive but comparing to the fees going to the vet, it's still more worth it.

I used to feed my Shih Tzu ANF kibbles mixed with 1 can(packet?.. its not really in a can but some form of aluminium foil container) of Cesar.
I switched to Science Diet "for Sensitive Skin" plus Cesar. (He has some skin problems) I noticed that his skin condition has improved a lot.
I know that Cold Storage Woodlands is selling the dog food that came in the form of a giant sausage (in the post by Sausage)...

I try to avoid Pedigree & Purina....The impression I get is that some of the stuff they put in these are 'filler' materials... (This is just my opinion. Dont flame me on this)
FYI: I thing Pet Station is selling dog food at a good price. Cesar - $1.15 (as compared to $1.35-$140 elsewhere) and there's about 10% off Some others like ANF and Diet Science.

hey actually i heard the same thing too! apparently most of the supermarket stuff (avail in NTUC and so on) uses a lot of filler meats, like *cough cough* horses...

don't quote me though, i'm just passing on the rumours/urban legends i heard.

You can always look at the ingredient list...
Anyway, cesar is pretty salty, that's why dogs like it. Not recommended to feed too often.

Mmmmm... maybe that explains why my dog refuses to eat his kibbles unless I mix cesar in... (he's picky and addicted to the taste?) also my dog has this habit of not eating unless I'm around....

I think the "sausage" sold sat cold storage is called Protapak... it works out to be more ex than kibbles. Better brands are Abady, Innova, California Natural, Solid Gold, Azmira.... that's all I can think of at the moment
