Hi, I am creating my own layout for photo book and save it in pdf file format. Anyone know recommended shop to print this. I don't want to upload my photos and using software for creating the layout like most photo book offered, I just want to print the pdf.

Thanks...

Why did you save it in pdf? Just leave it in jpeg and you can print it as photo prints. Then you can bind it. If you want it nicely bound like a photobook, then you need to conform to the printer's requirement... like size of each page, etc.

If you size your pages to 6R or 8R, you can go to Fotohub and print it into a FotoJournal... but again, in jpeg and not pdf.

if you really wan good quality photobook and don't mind paying a bit higher, you can go Just1book at Dhoby Ghaut station. It's near the JusAcia... =)

anyone tried making a book in aperture or iphoto?

I went there for a look. The pages were so thin, they looked crumpled like 'giam chye'. Photobook pages need to be thick.

Erm... How many photobooks have you flipped through? I suppose not all are thin.

And lastly, those were samples for you to flip though. Can't guarantee that there aren't people who will flip like as it flipping their own magazine at home. So as time passes by, it sure will get crumpled.

The only problem comes when the first product is not to your favour, then complain. Thin papers are matter of choice. Can always choose a thicker gsm paper and pay more. =)

Just1book default paper is 170 GSM which is very thin.

I flipped through a couple? No doubt many people flipped through the pages. But go to Fotohub and look at their samples. Then go to AlbumStories at Peninsula Plaza to look at their samples. I guess all these samples are subject to some level of abuse? Then tell me the Just1Book samples don't look like 'Giam Chye'.

170gsm is very thin? but like you said, it's 'default' paper. So what is a just nice thickness? I'm not sure, but for me, 170gsm for a coffeetable book is good enough. =)

OH... Maybe I should really go down and check them out. Haha. Thanks for the sharing. I've also checked the pricing for Albumstories, which charged quite a high price. 40pages $129.90 can be a killer.

170gsm for coffeetable book? you must be kidding. if you are referring to the coffeetable book used during wedding. I am sure the book will be torn by the time the wedding ends :bsmilie:

you pay for what kind of quality you gets. Anyway Photobook Singapore got discount promotion from time to time.

Thanks for the info. Nope, it's not for wedding use. More for gifting people I guess. Haha. I understand... The book goes through uncles, aunties and sometimes kids, so the condition is imaginably bad.

Hmmm.. Photobook Singapore does have a more competitive price.. Will check it out too~! Thanks. =)

Yup... And AlbumStories usually has a stall at IT shows. If you get a package, then it's competitive. I wrote a review on both Photobook Singapore and Photobook Express (AlbumStories) recently.

I see... And yeah, I saw your review on that.

It's very well written and detailed. =)

same company?

Different companies and different software, but same owner and staff. So they are practically the same.
