where to get the teleconvertor for canon a40? tc d52

anyone know where i can get canon's teleconvertor for the canon a40? they dont seem to stock it in sg... i equote cathay they dont have.

Canon having a problem with their lens manufacter due to the increase price, most of the stock V2 A40 if u can get it, get it soon, due to the above problem, most of the Canon lens cam have production problem.( like i say i heard this from my dealer, i dont work for Canon so no way i can verify it)

I believe the Olympus C-210 (1.9x) or the C-180 (1.7x) could work. Both are good quality lens and cost $70 each.

It would of cos be better if you test them first.

hrm yeah... need to see how much those 2 lenses vignet.....
the 1.9x and 1.7x... is that actual or is actual lower?

1.9x and 1.7x are actual (or very close to).

Make sure to bring along your cam and CF card for testing.

I have tried the C-210 on the A40 before.
Besides the usual problems of teleconverter.. i notice that images tends to look a little grayish. Picture taken looks sharp enough on the LCD, but forgotten to examine it on the PC as i had deleted the picture after the testing.

The next problem is this model reduce too many stops down. Which i feel could be a big issue especially if your going to take fast moving subjects.

Really? I didn't experience it with 2 of my cameras.

The lens on the A40 on ther otherhand is several stops down at full tele compared to the wide-angle position.

It could be a combination of the 2 which resulted in what i see.
Either way.. if the intention is to use flash, then one can forget about it, as the lens adapter + TC would have block much of the flash right/middle area of the subject completely when used. A40 also cannot use external flash as it does not have hotshoe nor flash sync jack.

So the only use is to take subjects in rather bright lighting condition or for longer exposure.

decided to get the olympus c-210...
but now thinking of getting a wide angle lens in the future...
wats good? should i get the one made for canon a40? costs $169 or so... is that ex compared to other wide angle lens?

Wide angle lens is even more expensive than a TC. Also, regardless of you using a TC or a wide angle, as long as you mount the lens adapter.. your flash effective area will be affected.
